January 6th 2015

Are you planning to move within the next 1-2 months? Everyone know moving can be expensive, especially if you have a lot of stuff you’ll need to pack in boxes. Packing supply may add up to your moving expenses. Here’s how and where to find free moving boxes.

Start collecting unused boxes from your office, friends or retail stores in advance, you’ll be surprise how many boxes you can collect for free.

Office buildings

Office buildings usually have many unused boxes they discard in recycling bin outside the building or on the loading dock. Often times you could see it from the outside, if not, you could always call and ask the receptionist to be pointed to the right direction

Craigslist is an excellent resource for finding free moving boxes. Go to the “FREE” section and check to see if someone is advertising their boxes for free pick up. If you can’t find any, you could go to “Wanted” section and post that you’re looking for free moving boxes.

Retail stores usually receive boxes of shipments every week. Call and find out what day they usually get the shipments so you could ask staff to leave the boxes outside by their backdoor. If you’re lucky, you can find boxes from a clothing retailer with a rod where you can hang your clothes with your own hangers.

Ask your friends or coworkers if they might know someone who just moved. They will be happy to get rid of those moving boxes as soon as they can.
